07/16/2007 (posted by Danielle LeBeau) Dear sisters,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Danielle LeBeau. As Ashley Schaefer, the previous Alumni Relations Coordinator, is currently away on co-op for the fall, I have stepped up to take over this position in her absence. To let you know a little bit about myself, I will be going into my senior year as a biomedical engineering major, graduating this May. I'm from Rochester, New York and I was in the Fall 04 pledge class and I am also in the Ho Tree! I was social coordinator for our house this past year so thanks for everyone who made it out!
As you are all aware from last semester, our chapter was in the process of getting ready to move to a TKE's old chapter house located at 1661 Tibbits Ave. On May 20th we were officially moved out of McGiffert house and began our residence at the new house on Tibbits Ave. Construction has been a very lengthily process. By may 20th we were happy to have the 8 bedrooms and the communal bathroom on the 1st floor available for occupation. For the last few months we have had about 6 sisters living in the house. They have been keeping an eye on things and they have just recently begun setting it up for the Fall semester. We are happy to say that construction is just about complete now. The 1st floor is almost done now, they are scheduled to install all the new appliances in the kitchen on the 16th & 17th. The 2nd floor bedrooms have some final touches that should be completed buy July 20th. The contractors will then move back down to the basement to finish that all up. We anticipate that all construction will be completed by the 1st week of August. As the summer is quickly passing us by, everyone is starting to get very excited about returning to TROY. Some sisters have already begun to bring stuff to and set up their new rooms. It is really coming out very nicely and we think everyone will be pleasantly surprised when they return for the 1st time, a lot has changed from what everyone saw this past spring/ winter. We are all very excited to show off our new residence not only during the upcoming semester to potential members during recruitment but also to all of you as you have been a great support this past year.
With that in mind, we would like to invite everyone who may be interested in seeing our new home over for a BBQ on Saturday August 25th at 1pm - 3pm. We will have some yummy food and will be giving tours of the new house. Please RSVP to me if you are interested in attending so we can pair you with a sister to be your guide for the day.
In the mean time feel free to see some of the before & after pictures of the house that have been provided by the House Association at http://www.agd-zh.com/alum/ha-tibbits-beforeafter.html, other pictures of the new house and the chapter can be seen at: http://community.webshots.com/user/AGDZH2007.
If you have comments, questions, concerns, or ideas, please, by all means contact me at Danielle.lebeau@gmail.com. We hope you are all having a GREAT summer & all of us here at Zeta Eta hope to see you at our new home this year.
Loyally,
Danielle LeBeau

Hello there, I hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday and looking forward to the weekend. I would just like to send you an update with information for IRD. If you have not yet sent me your RSVP, there is still time - the more the merrier!! The ladies I have on my attendance sheet are listed below. I have been informed that there are more that are planning on coming, please let me know who so i can get in contact with them.
Ok, so on to the fun I have been going through the last week and a half. After completing all my plans for IRD, TKE decided to throw a little curve ball in to my plans. Due to safety issues they are not going to allow us to hold our event at the new house on tibbits. However, Monica Anderson has been granted permission to be at TKE (tibbits) and give little tours to anyone interested before IRD. She will be there from 12 noon to 1pm. If you are interested in setting up a time to meet with her and see our new house (though still in construction phases) please contact her at monica.anderson.mann@gmail.com .
As for the new location of the event. We will be in SAGE 5510. This is a room on the top most floor of Sage academic building. You are free to part in North Lot, cross the street, and take the stairs next to the Troy building. At the top of the stairs, turn right and walk in front of the Troy building. Sage will be straight in front of you and you are encouraged to enter through the second floor entrance. This entrance will also have balloons and is accessible via a short set of wooden stairs down a slight hill. There will be balloons and signs to show you exactly where to go, for those of you who have not been on campus in a while. The event starts at 1pm and lasts to 3pm and food will be provided. The attire is business causal, and we will be holding the Room Auction in the hall outside of 5510.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need more detailed directions. Thank you ladies and I can't wait to see you all on Sunday!!

04/02/2007 (posted by Ashley) Hello again!
I wanted to write up a quick email with all the finalized information about the Red Rose Ball!
Our final plans are as follows:
Red Rose Ball- Spring formal
* Michael's Banquet House
* April 14, 2007
* 7pm-12am ***Buses will leave AGD at 6:45pm!
* $45 per person -- this will include cold platter hors d'oeuvre,
dinner with veggies, potatoes, salad and dessert, beer and wine
open bar, and a mug/glass for each attendee
I've made it spring themed with blue and silver table linens, balloons, etc. I am so excited and I hope that many girls will come back to join us for an amazing time! It is going to be more formal than most that we've had in the past, and the owners are excited and think it will be a lot of fun.
If you would like to send a check to me ahead of time you can mail it to
Kate Laaser
1999 Burdett Ave
McGiffert 201A
Troy NY 12180
OR you can email me that you will be coming and give me a check here before we leave... please note that this is important because I have to pay in full when we arrive.
Either way please include your dates name and if you would prefer chicken or steak for the dinner meal.
If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns etc, please email me at Laasek@rpi.edu
Hope everyone's as excited as me and I hope I see lots of you there!!!

Kate
03/07/2007 (posted by Ashley Schaefer) Hello to my lovely ladies. I hope you are all doing well and had a wonderful Valentines Day!! I would just like to send a quick note regarding IRD and Spring Formal. I have been working very closely with our social coordinator and we have almost completely finalized everything. She has wrote up a little note and it is below.
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to send an update about spring formal. I am pushing to have it on Saturday April 14th so keep the date open. I have a place holding the date for me so i can propose it at house meeting this weekend. Its called Michaels Banquet Hall and its really nice, in Latham. This is the website if anyones interested in checking it out http://usaweddings.com/michaelsbanquethouse/. As of now we're looking at $30 per person which includes the cocktail hour, dinner and a cash bar with specials, but this price is not in stone and I need to look into if cdta buses will take us and such. The place books for 5 hours, so plan on the formal being that long. I am also looking to get some kind of favor such as a mug or glass, etc, any ideas are welcome!
Any other questions, suggestions, ideas, just email me at laasek@rpi.edu
Thanks girls!
<3 Kate
Thank you all for waiting for this information. I will make sure to let you know what the house finally decides in this matter. From the girls I have talked to, this seems to be the best so I am almost 100% positive it will be as described above. I hope you can all make it! We are really excited about the evening and it is truly going to be a lot of fun! IRD will be either Sunday or Saturday of that weekend, depending on what works best for you, the alumni. Please let me know your thoughts and I will make sure to take them into consideration when completing the arrangements for this fun AGD filled weekend!
03/07/2007 (posted by Ashley Schaefer) Hello Fellow Sisters and Alumnae,
I hope you have all had a wonderful winter holiday and an even better New Year. It is hard to believe we are already almost a full month in to the year 2007. I can still remember when I was little and I thought we would be flying on people movers in the year 2000 :) its fun to think about what we thought was going to happen and where we actually are. I am not sure about you, but we here in troy have BIG PLANS for the year 2007!!!
First of all, we have really exciting news to share, though I know many if not all of you have already heard. The Alpha Gamma Delta Zeta Heta Chapter of Troy New York is officially changing residence. We are leaving the McGiffert house, home to many of you, and moving to the old TKE house on Tibbits. I know there are a few of you who were sisters when we lived in the house on tibbits just doors down from our new destination. We are all very very excited about this and can not wait to see how our chapter progresses in the next couple of months as we prepare to move.
On a Social note, we are currently getting ready for Crush, which is tentatively scheduled for Feb 24th. This year our social coordinator (Kate Laasar) has gotten Ziggy's in Latham to host it for us and we are planning on either 6-10 or 7-11 with a Pretty in Pink, Mardi Gras, or 80's Theme. We are all excited to spend this fun time together as sisters as well as our two dates ;) Not that there aren't enough boys on this campus!! Also, we have been trying to run down a date for Spring Formal, and currently we know it will be in April, and that is as far as we have gotten. I am trying to put pressure on the Social chair to make sure we give you ladies enough notice as to when it is so that you can plan on attending.
On a more academic side, we are getting ready for the annual Spring Career Fair. Resumes are being compiled as we speak and I will be sending a zipped file of the resumes that I have received from our undergraduates all looking for employment. We have several senior resumes included as well as architecture students. Please take some time and look through them. If you see something you would change, or have any suggestions or opportunities that you would like to share with our current undergraduates, please feel free to contact them personally, or get in contact with me and I can pass on the message. Your help and experience is always appreciated!!
I asked Kelly Owens, our Vice President of New Member Development to put together a little update for you, it is copied below:
Dear Sisters and Alumni,
My name is Kelly Owens, and I am the current Vice President of Member
Development. I am very excited with what Ashley is currently during with our
alumni relations and I hope you are too. There are many old and new events
going on this semester with our chapter and its great to be able to share
them with you.
First of all, the recruitment period will be beginning on Monday, January
29th with Café AGD and we're expecting a very good turnout. As of right now,
there are 9 bids to be given out, plus we have three girls who already have
signed with our chapter in the fall. Ideally there will be a pledge class of
12 at least, following a very successful fall recruitment period in which we
initiated 16 new sisters.
Second, fund raising for our philanthropy, the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation,
and House Association has been going very well. We are on our way to
becoming a jewel chapter again, and with a successful 24 Hour Volleyball
Tournament we can meet the 2000.00. Fund raising for House Association has
been extremely successful and we have raised nearly 3500.00, halfway to a
minimum goal of 7000.00. This leads me to the final topic that I'm sure
you've all heard so much about.
We have officially signed the lease with Tao Kappa Epsilon. They have begun
renovations and we will be moving in on May 15th. There are 22 bedrooms, 1
kitchen, 1 dining room, 1 living room, a basement, and two attic rooms. The
president and the resident adviser will each have singles; the rest of the
sisters will double in rooms slightly smaller than our doubles now. The
attic rooms will be a library and pledge activity room and the basement will
be our chapter room. For a sisterhood event each sister is going to make a
chair for her and any active little sisters that will be an individualized
chair for the chapter room.
Right now we are organizing what exactly we need and how much everything is
going to cost. Ashley and Rachel will be sending out a letter about how, if
you are interested, you could help out. Every possible contribution is going
to help out a ton.
Best wishes and I hope you're staying warmer than we are in Troy!
Loyally,
Kelly
All in all, we are really excited about this coming semester. We are already starting to get into the full swing of recruitment with our first event tomorrow. Wish us Luck :) I have a feeling that since the Best only Get Better, we will succeed with flying colors (red buff and green )!! I hope you all have a wonderful week and look forward to Valentines Day :)
12/19/2006 (posted by Ashley Schaefer) I would like to welcome 16 new beautiful Alpha Gams to the Zeta Eta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta!! We are all very proud of these girls and their accomplishments these past couple months. Michelle Georgens (our new president - then VP MD) and Lexie Sanford (New Member Coordinator ) did an amazing job balancing their studies (both girls are architecture majors - Michelle 4th year and Lexie 5th year) and the needs of the house as well as the pledge class.
Also for a second year running, AGD won the annual Panhel sponsored Lip-Sync competition! They rocked out to a oldie but a goodie, "Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much" winning with a landslide vote from all
the judges. Who would have expected anything less from the best sorority on campus!
04/17/2006 (posted by Tara Waters) The Dean of Students Office has announced the following Greek Life initiatives to be implemented on the dates noted below.
Effective 7/1/06 - Extend RPI's rules for alcohol for dorms to Fraternities. This means no alcohol in any public areas at any time. A person of the age 21+ may have up to 6 beers in their room at a time, but they beer may not be visible if you walk in the room. You may have social events with alcohol at 3rd party locations that are approved. (Non-Negotiable)
Effective 7/1/07 - Rush will begin in the middle of October and last until the 2nd to last week of the Fall semester. Member education period will start at the beginning of the Spring Semester and end before spring break (about 8 weeks). (Negotiable)
Effective 7/1/07 - A House Director will be appointed to every house, no matter if you are on school property or not, and no matter if the school owns your house. This person be similar to an RA from a dorm. They will get the same training as an RA, receive a stipend (though payment strategies are apparently still being discussed). A single room, a meal plan, etc all must be provided. This person cannot be someone who just graduated, and cannot be someone close to the house. It is likely this will be a graduate student from Sienna or The University of Albany. (Negotiable)
04/17/2006 (posted by Tara Waters) This past Saturday was the 14th Annual Awards of Excellence. Sponsored by Dean Of Students Office and the Office of Greek Life, it is meant to award and recognize those fraternities and sororities who exemplify and meet standards of excellence. 03/02/2006 (posted by Jan Harrington) Coming Soon to RPI - Relay for Life! I'm sure that many of you have heard about Relay for Life but just a quick synopsis. It is an event by the American Cancer Society and is about celebration, hope, and remembrance. It consists of a walk for 13 hours (this one at least) around Harkness Field, and is being held on April 21st. Currently we are the 3rd place team for money raised and are about halfway to the goal we have set for ourselves which we would love to surpass. Also the students have raised almost $20,000 which is half of the goal that was set when Relay began at $40,000. We would like to ask for your support in the endeavor and you can donate at our general team page.
